Jake McMahon, 26, of Brick, was charged with terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, Brick Township police said in a news release on Tuesday, Mar. 5. Police claimed McMahon admitted to being involved in the road rage incident on Monday, Mar. 4.
A Brick Township officer was flagged down by a man near Mantoloking and Dock roads at around 3 p.m. The man said he was threatened with a knife during a road rage incident.
The victim told police that he was driving on Mantoloking Road when he was cut off by another vehicle and honked his horn. The other driver got out of his vehicle, banged on the victim's window and vehicle, and threatened the victim with a folding knife.
The victim was able to leave the scene safely. He provided police with a description of the suspect's vehicle, partial license plate, and "identifiable characteristics."
Another officer was on patrol near the 7-Eleven on Mantoloking Road at around 4:40 p.m. and saw a vehicle matching the victim's description. The officer approached the vehicle and spoke with McMahon, who appeared to have bloody knuckles on both of his hands.
McMahon was arrested, processed at the Brick Township Police Department, and released.
